People of all genders, abilities and identities – come and join the Deakin Fearless Movement! DeakinACTIVEs Safe Space aims to create a space inside our health facilities that feels welcoming and accessible for all.
Every Wednesday from 7am – 10am* DeakinACTIVE invites you to come and train at any of our in-campus health club facilities at no cost – and with no obligations. Lights will be dimmed and the music low for a welcoming sensory environment. The main aim is to get you all moving and feeling comfortable to do so!
You are welcome to work up a sweat, or simply use this time as an opportunity to stretch with mates. We encourage everyone of all genders, abilities and identities to head down, and enjoy the health and fitness facilities that each campus has to offer for free.
*Hours May Differ at Warrnambool
On your first Wednesday visit, simply come into DeakinACTIVE and complete a casual user form stating that you are fit to workout and be active in our space. We’ll create an account and provide you with a DeakinACTIVE access pass. For every consecutive visit thereafter, you’ll just state your name when you arrive and our staff will sign you in.
All of our facilities have ramp access and disabled parking nearby:
Burwood – there are 2 disabled parking spots in the basement carpark of the LC building. Simply take the lift up to the next level.
Waurn Ponds – disabled parking in CP1 next to Building DD with ramp access past Elite Sports Precinct.
Warrnambool – disabled parking in the carpark near the facility.
That’s ok! Download our DeakinMOVES app, to access our workout library, nutrition tips, or online group fitness classes all for free.
Everybody has the right to enjoy an active life and the opportunity to participate in sport, physical activity or any role associated with a sporting community. To learn more about how Deakin University is providing more inclusive opportunities in sport for all abilities click here.
